Prescriptions and Repeats

“Delivering quality medical care in a welcoming environment while placing the patient first”

Repeat Prescriptions

Requests should be submitted in writing, preferably using the right hand side of your previous prescription, or on the forms available from Reception. Requests received before 11am will normally be ready after two clear working days. You may need to allow extra time for any requests that involve any change in medication or where special tests are required as part of your medication plan. For reasons of safety we do not accept telephone requests although you may submit your request via fax on 01202 304893.

Alternatively you can now book appointments and order your repeat medication easily online. If you would like to use this facility, please go to the Services page on this website and select “On-Line Services”, please note that the online servicve is not available to patients aged under 16.

Your prescription can be posted to you if you enclose a stamped addressed envelope or a Chemist can collect it for you-please indicate the name of your chosen chemist.

Please try and plan ahead with your prescription requests to avoid the possibility of running out of essential medicines.

Changes to your medication by the Hospital

When your medication is changed by the hospital, we must receive a letter from the hospital detailing the change in dose and quantity before we can renew your prescription, to ensure we have got it right.

Private Prescriptions

We are under no obligation to translate private prescriptions to NHS prescriptions, but under certain circumstances we are willing to do this as a service to patients. Prescriptions of this kind cannot be issued until we have received a letter from the consultant. If you need this medication urgently, we would suggest that you use your private prescription to obtain the first supply and apply to us when you need more.
