Don’t be a DNA!

A DNA is somebody who Did Not Attend a pre booked appointment and did not advise us that they could not attend beforehand. The clinic was ready, the staff were ready but the patient Did Not Attend!

Over the last year (15th Oct 2013 – 15th Oct 2014) Shelley Manor Medical Centre has had 1844 DNA’s, totalling 18440 minutes or 307 hours of lost time for our clinicians and all this despite us sending out appointment reminders, by text message, to patients the day before their appointment is due.

We understand that sometimes life throws you a curveball and it is impossible for you to inform us that you won’t be attending your appointment but in all other circumstances we would expect you to call us, giving reasonable notice if possible, to inform the surgery that you will not be able to attend. This allows us to free up the slot for another patient that may need to be seen.
